PERMANENT MAKEUP QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Why should someone have Permanent Makeup?
Why not! Permanent Cosmetics is perfect for the busy person/professional who has little to no time to apply conventional makeup, those who like to wake up with a fresh natural look, eyebrows symmetry, the athlete who wants to look natural, Alopecia suffers, those with medical conditions that cause their hands to shake, vision problems or those that have allergic reactions to over the counter makeup products, but mostly convenience!
How is it applied?
Color is chosen. Design is drawn on and approved by you. Topical anesthetic is then applied for 20-25min. Implement is then dipped into pigment of choice and gently tapped into the area of design. After pigment is implanted, aftercare ointment will be given along with written and verbal instructions on proper care of your permanent makeup. You will then return within 3-6 weeks for your included second session to re-enforce color and for any detail work if needed.
How painful is the application of Permanent Makeup?
A topical is applied for all procedures to maximize comfort. It is not uncommon for a client to fall asleep during the procedure. If you know you have an "extremely low" pain tolerance other methods are available to add additional comfort.
How long does it take?
Each procedure will take approximately 2 hours. Permanent Makeup is a process and will require 2 treatments for a perfect result. The 1st application we will do all the major work and the 2nd application will be to perfect. On a very rare occasion, a client may need a 3rd touch-up.
How long will permanent makeup last?
This varies with each individual person. I tell my clients to think of their permanent makeup as LOW maintenance not NO maintenance. Your permanent makeup can be affected by sun exposure (#1 enemy), health conditions, medication, and the natural aging process. The color can last anywhere from 2-5 years, however, it is recommended that you return for a color boost every 1-2 years to keep your permanent makeup looking fresh. My clients will NEVER pay full price unless you wait to refresh your permanent makeup after 4 years. My clients yearly touch up fee is $150.
Is Permanent Makeup really Permanent?
NO.... I use the finest permanent makeup products/pigments and they will soften/fade in color over time....typically 1-5 years. The natural elements, anti-aging creams, sun exposure, sweating, tanning beds and just age of the permanent makeup, without question , will fade in time. It is recommended to get color boosts to freshen up the Permanent Makeup to maintain it's natural look. Remember your typical tattoo is done with ink vs Permanent Makeup is done with pigment, very different.
What is the recovery time?
Total recovery time is 7-10 days. You may experience puffiness or swelling for the first 1-3 days. You will be instructed to keep ointment on the treated areas during that time. Although you may not choose to, I have had several clients return to work the same day.
What should I expect afterwards?
The area may be tender and puffy for a few days. The color will oxidize immediately after the procedure look "too dark". This is good! After a few days of healing the treated area will peel or flake, similar to a minor sunburn, leaving your desired color. You will book your follow up appointment 4-6 weeks later to perfect your makeup. It is advisable to allow approximately 1 week of healing time before any major events.
Can I still wear regular makeup?
Absolutely! Permanent Makeup will just enhance any other cosmetics you use!
What if I want to change styles?
Thicker, fuller looking lashes, beautifully arched brows, evenly shaped natural looking luscious lips never go out of style. I assist my clients in choosing the most flattering, natural look for them. Maybe 5% of my clientele ask for something that is seasonal, like bright blue eyeliner or ruby red lips, but even these colors can be transformed into more natural colors later on.
Can I get cosmetic surgery if I have Permanent Makeup?
Absolutely! Properly placed Permanent Makeup will not affect cosmetic surgery.
Should I worry about allergies?
No, I only use an iron oxide pigment from the most highly regarded company in the industry. If allergies are a concern for you a patch test can be done prior to your treatment. I have used these products on super sensitive clients with great results. Remember, permanent makeup is a wonderful alternative to cosmetics, if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
